TEST MANAGER

Tonic is seeking an experienced Test Manager to oversee testing within a complex, multi-disciplinary programme for our client.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of ensuring that end-client implementations meet the highest quality standards, ensuring that standardised, fit-for-purpose testing is completed on time and on budget.

The Manager will be responsible for setting the central test strategy definition, including central test planning and client-level test planning, working alongside project managers, business analysts, developers and key stakeholders.

They will ensure that test strategies are developed, executed, and defects are managed according to a standardised approach and set of processes, underpinned by a wide variety of suitable test methodologies, tools, and techniques.

 

Key Responsibilities

·       Test Strategy

o  Oversee the development and implementation of the central testing strategy for complex end-client implementations, to specially cover, but not limited to, entry/exit criteria, test script standards, and defect prioritisation.

o  Consider how automated testing can be used to improve efficiency and robustness.

o  Ensure strategy enables the ability to deliver a consistent, standardised and scalable approach to testing.

o  Ensure strategy and scope is reviewed and signed off my relevant stakeholders.

·       Test Governance

o  Establish and uphold rigorous central test governance and management standards to ensure consistency and excellence in the testing process.

o  Establish testing plans which meet existing milestone commitments and client requirements, with sufficient contingency to meet respective go-live dates.

o  Ensure effective hand-offs between testing phases.

o  Establish the typical model for roles & responsibilities.

·       Test Preparation

o  Ensure testing support delivers on their responsibilities, adhering to functional, integration, regression, and performance test types.

o  Periodically review and refine test cases to align with evolving requirements and adhere to an agreed standard.

·       Test Execution

o  Set and maintain specific roles and responsibilities.

o  Ensure testing support delivers on their responsibilities, adhering to functional, integration, regression, and performance test types.

o  Ensure testing is undertaken in line with the organisation’s standards across the multiple testing phases, by end-client.

o  Ensure defects are managed and concluded with a measurable and traceable approach, including test RAID tracking.

o  Provide tracking and regular reports to relevant stakeholders to proactively address risks and issues arising from defects and/or potential delays to committed-to-milestones.

o  Be available to relevant teams in different time zones at critical points of the testing phase, including - but not limited to - weekends and over public holidays.

o  Assist in testing as a tester at critical and unavoidable infliction points during a project lifecycle.

·       Test Tooling

o  Implement and maintain a library of standardised testing tools and templates.

o  Ensure testing tools and methods are consistently applied and adopted across projects, incorporating a wide variety of test tools and techniques.

o  Ensure existing Tonic testing methodology is updated accordingly.

·       Ongoing programme support

o  Manage test resource effectively, including the utilisation of test resource management skills to identify and manage testing risks and issues.

o  Provide regular testing updates to programme management on testing progress, risks, and issues, and support strategies and plans to address any concerns.

o  Manage testing support teams, ensuring that they are equipped with the skills and resources necessary to deliver successfully.

o  Foster a culture of continuous improvement, establishing and maintaining best practices, standards, and methodologies for testing, and ensuring that they are adhered to across all projects.

o  Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and all Tonic team members.

 

Key Experience

·       >10 years’ experience in capital markets, across a variety of financial institutions.

·       >10 years’ of dedicated test management experience on major implementation programs, across a variety of firms.

·       Experience in managing and validating Collateral related systems and technologies.

·       Strong understanding of quality assurance methodologies and best practices.

·       Experience of a wide variety of test methodologies, tools, and techniques.

·       Experience leading teams of testers and QA professionals.

·       Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with ability to manage multiple testing streams simultaneously, managing various test types and methods.

·       Experience working with diverse project teams in a consultancy setting.

·       Varied transformation experience, including work with custodians, buy-side firms, and dealer banks.

·       Experience managing teams of testing professional, with demonstrated success in building and leading high-performance teams.

 

Qualifications and Skills

·       Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g. Computer Science, Engineering) is required.

·       Relevant certification – PRINCE2, PMP, ISTQB, CSTE, etc.

·       Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with a focus on test strategy and planning definition.

·       Excellent communication skills, capable of coordinating central and client-level test planning.

·       Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to solve complex problems and make data-driven decisions.

·       Ability to work collaboratively across functions and departments, with a strong commitment to teamwork and collaboration.

·       Familiarity with JIRA and other testing tools and platforms.

·       Proficiency in defect tracking tools and methodologies.

·       Impeccable attention to detail, essential for tasks such as test defect management and test RAID tracking.

·       Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders within the programme, as well as multiple external stakeholder groups.

·       Capable of producing high-quality testing documentation i.e. testing plans, defect dashboards, and materials to accompany key stakeholder decisions.

·       Strong Microsoft Office application skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, MS Project and/or equivalent planning tools).

·       Leadership skills, pivotal in test resource management and the delegation of roles and responsibilities within the team.

·       Deep product Knowledge of at least one: Uncleared OTC, UMR, or cleared OTC dervis, repo, securities lending, commodities, and or TBA.

 

Desirables

·       Strong knowledge of collateral management lifecycle.

·       Experience of collateral management workflow, across different products, particularly Vermeg Colline.

·       Experience with testing collateral management systems across various products, particularly Vermeg Colline.

·       Managed testing through the Agile methodology.

·       Master’s degree in a related field (e.g. Computer Science, Engineering)
